When I see an idea with potential, I get hungry. I get working on the idea straight away, gather a capable team around it, feed it with passion and love. Admire it while it forms, changes it’s shape and evolves, comes alive. And sometimes, the darling has to be killed. That is the painful and absolutely necessary part.
Creating something beautiful is amazing, creating something functional is great, but creating something that is both AND remains simple to use, that’s hard core. To me it’s go hard core or go home.
Back in the days when I was working for the famous Finnish mobile phone company, I loved to work on the patent portfolio. I’ve been involved in over 100 patent applications and hold about 10 patents. We used to write those “invention reports” over coffee breaks and actually hold one patent called “Secret lover”. I tell you, it’s very beneficial to read gossip magazines while sipping coffee. That may lead to inventions!
I love to be involved in the ‘concepting phase’ of projects. When anything and everything is possible, at least for that one workshopping day. My superpower is to bring ideas and view-points from different fields. That’s when my two very different professions, engineering and group exercise coaching come in handy. I can create a welcoming and fun atmosphere within the team and design fresh concepts which can actually be built.
